Frequently asked questions
Everything about how Neutral Trade works, how your funds are held, and what it costs.
About Neutral Trade
What is Neutral Trade?
Neutral Trade is a marketplace of professionally managed, on-chain trading strategies. Quantitative trading firms run battle-tested strategies — market neutral, directional, and savings — inside non-custodial smart-contract vaults on Solana. Anyone with a crypto wallet can deposit from $100 and track performance in real time. Users have deposited more than $200 million since launch.
How does Neutral Trade work?
You connect a wallet, choose a vault at https://www.neutral.trade/strategies, and deposit. Each vault routes capital to one strategy operated by a professional trading firm. The firm holds trading authority only — it can never withdraw your funds. Returns accrue inside the vault, you monitor live statistics on your dashboard, and you can request a withdrawal at any time, subject to the vault's redemption period.
Is Neutral Trade a hedge fund?
No. Neutral Trade is not a hedge fund and does not take custody of client money. It is a technology platform that gives you direct access to hedge-fund-style quantitative strategies through non-custodial vaults. You hold your own position on-chain, deposits start at $100, and performance data is published in real time rather than in a quarterly letter.
Who is behind Neutral Trade?
Neutral Trade was co-founded in 2025 by Derek Lee, Co-Founder and CEO (https://www.linkedin.com/in/derekleekh/), and Peter Chau, Co-Founder and CIO (https://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-c-70a4aa8a/), and is built by a team of quantitative traders and engineers. It is backed by Solana Labs, Ergonia, Skyland Ventures, BlackPine, and Monke Ventures, plus angels from IMC Trading, Phantom, Kamino, Jupiter, Pyth, Sanctum, and others. The strategies themselves are operated by independent professional trading firms.
Security & Custody
How are my funds secured?
Deposits sit in non-custodial smart-contract vaults on Solana, and vault balances are visible on-chain. Trading firms receive delegated trading authority only; withdrawal rights stay with you. Where a strategy needs access to trading venues, assets are held through institutional custody infrastructure. Vault protections and security practices are documented at https://docs.neutral.trade.
Has Neutral Trade been audited?
Yes. The vault infrastructure underpinning all Neutral Trade strategies has been independently audited three times, by Halborn, Quantstamp, and Offside Labs. All three reports are public and linked from the Security page at https://docs.neutral.trade. Audits assess code for vulnerabilities and economic design flaws; they reduce risk but do not eliminate it.
Can Neutral Trade or a trading firm withdraw my funds?
No. The vault smart contracts separate trading authority from custody. A trading firm can open and close positions for the strategy, but it cannot withdraw your deposit. Withdrawals from a vault can only be sent to the wallet that made the deposit.
What happens to my funds if Neutral Trade shuts down?
Your deposits do not sit on Neutral Trade's balance sheet. Vaults are smart contracts on the Solana blockchain, so positions remain in the vault contracts and stay withdrawable even if the Neutral Trade interface is unavailable. Withdrawal timing continues to be governed by each vault's settlement schedule.
What are the risks of depositing?
All trading strategies carry risk, and deposits are not insured. The main risks are strategy risk (a strategy can lose money), smart-contract risk, stablecoin depeg risk, and counterparty risk on the venues a strategy trades. Market-neutral vaults target low correlation to crypto prices, but they are not risk-free. Read the risk overview at https://docs.neutral.trade before depositing, and never deposit more than you can afford to lose.
Getting Started
How do I deposit into a vault?
Connect a supported wallet at https://www.neutral.trade/strategies, open a vault, and press Deposit. Each vault lists its own requirements — supported deposit tokens, minimum deposit, fees, and redemption period — on its details page. Your position and live performance appear in your portfolio once the deposit settles.
What is the minimum deposit?
Most vaults accept deposits from $100. Minimums vary by vault, and the exact figure is shown on each vault's page at https://www.neutral.trade/strategies.
Which wallets are supported?
Neutral Trade supports major Solana wallets, including Phantom and Solflare, through the in-app wallet connection. Hardware wallets work through those wallet interfaces. If your wallet holds Solana assets such as USDC, it can generally connect to Neutral Trade.
Which tokens and blockchains are supported?
Neutral Trade runs on Solana. Most vaults accept USDC; some vaults accept other assets such as USDT, USDe, or SOL-based tokens. Each vault's page lists exactly which deposit tokens it supports.
Who can use Neutral Trade?
Neutral Trade is available in most countries, but not everywhere. Access is restricted in a number of jurisdictions, including the United States, based on your current location rather than your citizenship. The full list is published at https://docs.neutral.trade under Regional Availability. Deposits made before you travel to a restricted region remain in the vault and continue to be managed by the strategy.
Returns, Fees & Withdrawals
How is APY generated?
Returns come from the underlying strategies: funding-rate and cross-exchange arbitrage, market making, systematic trend following, and lending yields, depending on the vault. Displayed APY is an estimate based on the strategy's recent performance — typically the trailing 90 days — and is not a guaranteed rate. The calculation methodology is published at https://docs.neutral.trade.
What are the fees?
Each vault charges two transparent fees. The annual service fee accrues over time — a 2% annual fee works out to about 0.00548% per day. The commission is a share of profits, charged only when your balance rises above your previous high-water mark: if a strategy does not make you money, no commission is charged. Exact rates are shown on each vault's details page and at https://docs.neutral.trade.
Are there lockups or redemption periods?
Yes. Deposits are subject to a redemption period, which differs by vault. During the redemption period your funds remain invested and stay exposed to the strategy's performance. Each vault's redemption period is shown on its details page.
How long do withdrawals take?
You can request a withdrawal at any time. Funds become available at the end of the vault's redemption period, which varies by vault and is shown on the vault's details page. Redemption periods protect the strategies from arbitrage and allow positions to be unwound in an orderly way.
How is my performance calculated and reported?
Your dashboard shows balance, earnings, fees paid, and your personal high-water mark in real time, calculated from on-chain vault data. Commission is only charged on profits above your own high-water mark, so you never pay performance fees twice on the same gains.
Products & Strategies
What is Neutral Autopilot?
Neutral Autopilot is Neutral Trade's flagship multi-strategy vault. One deposit is allocated across the platform's live market-neutral strategies and rebalanced as market conditions change — a strategy-of-strategies model. Each depositor has an individual high-water mark, so commission is only charged on your own net gains. You can find it at https://www.neutral.trade/strategies.
What is the difference between market-neutral and directional strategies?
Market-neutral strategies aim to earn yield with low correlation to crypto prices — for example funding-rate arbitrage or market making — so returns depend on the strategy's edge rather than on the market going up. Directional strategies, such as CTA trend following, take positions on market moves and target higher returns with higher volatility. Neutral Trade labels every vault with its category and risk profile.
What is NT Earn?
NT Earn is Neutral Trade's savings product: a lending optimizer on Solana money markets. It allocates deposits across established lending venues such as Kamino Lending and Jupiter Lend, to seek competitive stablecoin yields.
Who manages the strategies?
Each vault is operated by a professional quantitative trading firm selected by Neutral Trade. Firms are vetted on track record, risk management, and operational quality before launch, and multiple independent firms run live strategies on the platform. The selection and onboarding criteria are published at https://docs.neutral.trade.
Points, Referrals & VIP
What are NT Points?
NT Points are Neutral Trade's rewards program. You earn points for depositing into vaults and for referring other users, and standings are tracked on the leaderboard at https://www.neutral.trade/points. Points also count toward VIP Club tiers.
How does the referral program work?
Share your referral link from https://www.neutral.trade/referrals. When people you refer deposit, you earn a share of revenue and NT Points, and you can track your earnings on the referrals dashboard.
What is the VIP Club?
The VIP Club rewards Neutral Trade's most active depositors with tiers reached through NT Points or assets on the platform. Higher tiers unlock benefits such as fee discounts. Details are at https://www.neutral.trade/vip-club.
